This bond between us can't be broken

It had been a year since Hanna arrived in Metro City - or Metrocity, as she sometimes called it, influenced by a certain someone's mispronunciations - and had been taken under the wing of Megamind, whom she would eventually come to realise was the city's supervillain, but whom she had known first as a friend, the second she had ever had.
This one, though, she was absolutely determined to protect and so she kept up her training regime. Not quite as rigorous as her f--as Erik's, granted; life in the heart of the modern world, she realised, was making her lazy. Not so lazy that she couldn't train, though - she needed to keep in good condition if she was to keep Megamind safe. For all that he was a criminal, he didn't seem to know how to protect himself, so she would need to do that for him.
A year exactly since she had met Megamind, and yet Hanna didn't expect the day to be any different from usual. When she got out of bed, she went over to her mirror and began her morning routine - not brushing her hair, or selecting clothes, or applying make-up, as other girls might; something far more important.
"My name is Hanna. I live in Metrocity, population two hundred and twenty thousand people. My address is 251 Port Road, I am home-schooled, with particular interest in athletics and music, and my best friends are Megamind and Minion. I also have many, many pet Brainbots."
When she was finished, she grinned at her reflection. It was the absolute worst cover story in the entire world and every word of it was true. Hanna belonged here, in a way she had never truly belonged anywhere else - not with the man who wasn't really her father, although she had since reconciled her hatred of him and realised they had loved each other; not with Sophie and her family; not on the run.
This was her home and she would never give it up.
An hour or so later, after doing her morning work-out, then showering and dressing, Hanna came down to the kitchen, running her hands through her damp hair and wondering what was for breakfast. She had grown particularly partial to pancakes, after Minion had shown her that what could be made from eggs - and other things - was far better than cracking open and swallowing a raw one.
One of the many things she had learned about the world - like music. Just the thought of the first time she had heard Megamind's rock collection made her smile and wonder if she could convince him to play it when she found him... Not that it was ever a hard battle, more like giving him an excuse.
